Kramatorsk

Kramatorsk campus of the Donetsk National Medical University (DNMU) trains and graduates students from all over the world. Associate Professors, Professors, Candidates of Science, Doctors of Science and other highly qualified teachers perform training at our university. Annually students from more than 86 countries get their diplomas in Kramatorsk campus of the Donetsk National Medical University.

Kramatorsk campus provide studying in such forms of trainings: internship, magistracy, clinical residency, postgraduate study, doctoral studies, and refresher courses for doctors.  University Specialists are the members and heads of medical associations and organizations of Ukraine and Donetsk region.

Kramatorsk is a city of regional significance in the Donetsk region of Ukraine. From October 11, 2014 - the place of residence of the administration of the Donetsk region. Population 192 642 people, taking into account the settlements, subordinate to the city council.

The name of the city comes from the local toponymy, derived from the name of the station Kramatorskaya. V. A. Nikonov assumed that the toponym originated from the name Kramatorsk plant, which in turn raised to the French word crématoire a "big oven". According to E.S.Otin this version is untenable, before the appearance of the plant there already existed the settlement Kramatorovka. According to his version, the name of the city comes from the non-preserved toponymic word combination of chrome Torov or kroma Torskaya "border on the river Tor". The word kroma means "edge, boundary, border," and Thor is the old name of the river Kazenny Torets.

Kramatorsk is the most important center of heavy engineering, jewelry production and science of Ukraine. Kramatorsk eventually became one of the largest centers in Ukraine for the manufacture of heavy machinery and machine tools for the metallurgical, mining, power, and chemical industries; products have included presses, cranes, turbine rotors, and self-propelled excavators. Other industries have included railway repair, ceramic manufacture, coke-chemical undertakings, and cement making.

Health care

There are 18 treatment and preventive clinics in the city, in which there are 634 doctors and 1,750 middle-level medical personnel. The provision of hospital beds is 85.7 per 10 thousand inhabitants; in total 1730 beds are available in hospitals.

The main causes of mortality are circulatory diseases (75.8% of the total number of deaths in the city), neoplasms (17.4%) and diseases of the digestive system (2.9%). Among the causes of death of the able-bodied population in the first place - neoplasms.

Culture

In Kramatorsk, there are 4 schools of art, centralized system of public libraries. Central Public Library named after. M. Gorky, Children's Central Library. A. Pushkin and 13 libraries-branches), as well as 16 clubs and cultural centers.
